Impressive SPEC OMPL2001 (OpenMP Benchmark Suite) Results for M9000

The SPEC OMPbenchmark  is used to rate certain types of system for HPC applications …

SPEC OMP (OpenMP Benchmark Suite) is SPEC’s first benchmark suite for evaluating performance based on OpenMP (http://www.openmp.org) applications. SPEC OMP continues the SPEC tradition of giving HPC users the most objective and representative benchmark suite for measuring the performance of SMP (shared memory multi-processor) systems

SPEC OMPL2001 is targeted at system vendors, software vendors, and customers of high-performance computing systems. It uses a set of shared-memory, parallel-processing applications to measure the performance of the computing system’s processors, memory architecture, operating system and compiler. Nine different application tests - covering everything from quantum chromodynamics to finite-element crash simulation to shallow water modeling - are included in the benchmark suite. SPEC OMPL2001 contains larger working sets and longer run times than SPEC/HPG’s SPEC OMPM2001

Sun has posted results for the SPARC Enterprise M9000 server using the new SPARC64 VII 2.52 GHz processor:
