Sun Federal to Demo at DISA Partnership Conference
The Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) Partnership Conference is set for May 5-8 at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort in Orlando, Fla. Sun Federal will be demonstrating some of the company’s advanced technologies for desktop virtualization, security, identity management, etc. at booth 331. Partners expected to join Sun at the booth are Mitel,
BlueSpace and Dynamic Systems.
Sun Federal’s Jim Laurent points out some specific Sun solutions pertinent to the DISA community as:
Sun Ray Ultra-Thin Client Technology: This innovative solution to current desktop cost and management issues can significantly reduce costs while increasing user flexibility, mobility and security.
Solaris 10 Operating System: The open source Solaris 10 operating system with Trusted Extensions provides a robust, scalable security solution for customers with multiple levels or compartments of data access. Sun, HP, IBM and Dell platforms (Sparc or X64) are fully supported. Dell, Fujitsu and IBM are OEMs for Solaris on their platforms. Solaris 10 is Common Criteria evaluated.
Sun Modular Datacenter: This is a low cost, quick deploying solution for those who are running out of data center space and need additional computing power quickly with lower real estate, power and cooling costs. A scale model will be displayed at the booth.
Windows / Linux interoperability: Sun is a full OEM for MS Windows and Red Hat operating systems, selling and supporting both OSes on its Intel and AMD based servers. As a licensee of MS technologies, Solaris OS interoperates well with existing desktop infrastructure.
Laurent also shows a DoD 2875 demonstration using the Sun Java Systems Identity Manager Suite to manage the SYSTEM AUTHORIZATION ACCESS REQUEST (SAAR) process.
