QuickTransit for Solaris/SPARC-to-Solaris/x86-64
QuickTransit for the Solaris Operating System (Solaris OS) on SPARC to Solaris on x86/64 systems has been released, allowing enterprise customers to immediately run many thousands of additional applications.
The Solaris Ready Logo certified solution gives customers, who have opted to deploy the Solaris OS on x86 hardware platforms from Sun, IBM, HP, Dell and others, the capability to deploy QuickTransit for Solaris/SPARC-to-Solaris/x86-64 and immediately benefit from running the large and diverse range of Solaris SPARC-based applications that have been developed by independent software vendors (ISVs), open source developers and internal application development teams.
“Sun is about openness and choice, offering its customers the best computing infrastructure, easily adapted to their business and operational needs,” said Juan Carlos Soto, vice president of Global Market Development at Sun. “Working with Transitive, Sun makes it easier for customers to leverage the power and value inherent in the open-source Solaris OS by developing their application once and deploying it on the Sun system or architecture of choice, optimized and best fitted to a specific need.”
QuickTransit for Solaris/SPARC-to-Solaris/x86-64 is available in the following configurations:
- QuickTransit Workstation: for use on desktop and laptop PCs
- QuickTransit Server: for large-scale datacenter consolidation projects
