Sun Launches New Initiative for SMBs
Sun is making it easier, faster and more cost-effective for small- and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) to use technology to gain a competitive advantage through a new initiative designed to make buying Sun technology easy and affordable for this market.
Through alliances with Microsoft, Intel and AMD, Sun is able to deliver complete SMB solutions spanning servers, storage, software, services and support. Customers can choose from a range of products and platforms including Sun Fire x64 and UltraSPARC-processor based servers and storage; multiple operating systems, including the Solaris 10 Operating System (Solaris OS), Windows and Linux; and databases, including Sun’s MySQL.
The SMB-optimal Sun solutions are featured on http://www.sun.com/smb and can be purchased through Sun’s featured online resellers, Sun Authorized Partners or the Sun.com store.
During the initial phase of the initiative, Sun will be working with CDW as the featured online reseller.
Also making it easier for SMBs to access Sun technology, Sun’s Try and Buy program, which enables businesses to test Sun’s leading products in their own IT environments before making a purchasing decision. In the past two years, Sun has shipped more than 8,500 free trial systems, 70 percent of those to SMBs. The products in the Sun SMB initiative launched today will also be available for free trial through the Try and Buy program.
