Sun, Emulex Corp. Offer New Form Factor HBAs in Netra Servers

Sun will be using Emulex Corporation’s LightPulse Fibre Channel Host Bus Adapters (HBAs) for use within its Sun Netra Blade Servers.

The new Sun StorageTek 4Gb/s Fibre Channel ATCA HBAs, based on the Emulex 4Gb/s LightPulse LPe11000 HBA family, uses an Advanced Mezzanine Card (AMC) form factor which supports the ATCA chassis.

“This new form factor HBA paves the way for the delivery of high-bandwidth solutions for the telecommunications market,” said Mike Smith, EVP of worldwide marketing, Emulex Corp.

The new Sun server blades along with Emulex SAN connectivity solutions are designed to accelerate the delivery of next generation voice, video and data services.
