OpenSolaris Registrations Up 60,000

OpenSolaris Engineering Community Manager Jim Grisanzio reports that opensolaris.org reached 80,000 registrations this past weekend, up 60,000 from this same time last year.

“A meaningless metric? Perhaps. But there are still 80,000 people on the site, and there were zero in June of 2005 when we started this project,” he writes.

Registrations will likely surge again following this week’s Sun Tech Days event taking place in Tokyo. Grisanzio attributes a recent rise in registrations to the Sun Tech Days event in Shanghai and Beijing that “bumped us over the top during the last two weeks with about 600 people.”
